Hi all, I need some advice on my front full's off beam. The end of it is always really slow. I can see from the slow motion that my upper body is a bit forward on take off, and there is a slight pike initiating the twist which is slowing my heel drive. If you have any other advice please comment! I land in exactly the same way when I do it on floor!
Yes, we train in an old hall so we do beam on the stage...
Also here is a new acro I am working on. It is a flic with a half twist after hand support. Its really messy and hard to get used to cos you have to split your wrong leg to walk out properly.
I am really proud of all the boys I have coached this year, and am now excited to be introducing 6 new boys into competition gymnastics ready for the 2009 season. The boys programme at our gym is getting stronger and stronger.
Last year when I started with the boys I had about 5 boys, now we have 13 competing levels 0-4! I have learnt heaps about Mens Gymnastics and coaching competitive sports (and muli-tasking). It was never going to be easy coaching these boys, but they make me laugh all the time!

I am enjoying this montage right now, I think it's kind of like just laughing off some of the heartbreaks of gymnastics. It's good because nobody is shown getting seriously injured.
It's interesting that there is not much of Shawn in there, maybe the maker is a Shawn fan or maybe she just doesn't make that many mistakes...
enjoy
There has been lots of talk about the new code bringing 'artistry' back into gymnastics. Rumours that difficulty will count for less, I hope this doesn't lead to gymnasts not attempting new and innovative skills. There have been some very interesting changes i.e. A & B panel (just when we got used to it) has been changed to E & D panels. However I must say that I am very impressed by the gymnastics of the 80's and 90's, they have interesting and big skills that seem to be sewn flawlessly into their routines... Of course many things have changed in the world since the 80's and 90's. In the political game of gymnastics where rules can affect the very nature of the sport. eg, the senior age made 16, and life style expectations. In NZ I believe that the amount and type of training done by these gymnasts will never be accepted socially...
Oksana Omelianchich 1985 worlds a stunning 10.0...
Olesya Dudnik Floor...
It seems other people miss the old style of gymnatics... I'm just waiting to see what the revised code brings in the next quad...
I'm not sure what the deal with how far behind NZ is with the TV series's (I'd say a long way). Anyway found the clip on youtube... I can't wait for Nastia's supposed appearance on gossip girl (I admit I watch the show sometimes just cos she might be on it one day, probably not for 2 years in NZ, oh well yay for youtube...
Here's Shawn, i don't really know what this show is about but oh well.... Enjoy!
Another link sent from my friend. She said that she didn't know whether to laugh or cry...
But anyway it appears to be a song about Nastia. The lyrics are on the youtube page. It's a biit out of sync but still interesting. Quite cute but ever so slightly creepy. Enjoy.
Alicia Sacramone has to be the funniest US gymnast, the video interview posted on LBL gymnastics was classic. Go Alicia! Also if anyone has any idea what she meant when she said "bedazzle some sharpies" in an interview on gymnast.com please enlighten me... (BTW not knowing what it means hasn't stopped me and my flatmate from using the expression)
This is a really cool montage from NaKoiPes, all I can say is wow! I am amazed by the one armed press to handstand I wish I could do that!
The other day my friend sent me this really original floor routine from the Olympics, thinking I would enjoy the dance.
I did! So I thought you might as well. Happy Viewing! It's not your normal choreography thats for sure...

I found this website (http://discountleotards.com/gymnasticleotardsandmore.aspx)
with Nastia and Shawn 'mock' leos (the hott ones that light bulb hands had on her site), but I also found some other more suspicious gymnastics fashions. I haven't really decided if I like any of them yet. Let me know what you think!
Here are the 'mocks'
here are some random 'olymic' ones:
Those two are not too bad, here are some of the really interesting ones:
I'm not even sure how you would make some of these, but they are very exciting!
This one is a little weird I don't really get the picture on it?
intense
DUCKY
A leo, leo
Quite a creative design, looks like it could potentially be a club leo?
